CRE Workshop Creation of Carnival’s Hat
28 mars 2022The tradition of the Dunkirk Carnival dates back to the 17th century. At that time, people organized parties for the sailors who went off for several months in search of the valuable cod off the coast of Iceland Since it was very dangerous and they were not sure if they would return safely, they wanted to enjoy the days before departure to the fullest. All their clothes were already on board, so the sailor men had to dress up with the only ones left: their wives' clothes! We want to re-create the same goliardic spirit, typical of the Dunkirk carnival, using confetti and similar items and decorating all together a bisexual garment: the hat.
After viewing some videos of the Dunkirk Carnival, the students, each with their own correspondent, gave vent to their imagination by decorating hats with ribbons, feathers, buttons, flowers and stars, creating a unique and original product. They later wore their shared creation posing together for a group shot.
