Welcome to Cerignola01 juin 2022
When they arrived in the school, the students were welcomed by a group of young Italian pupils who started performingthe Ukrainian national anthem to pay tribute to the Ukranian people at war. Then, they went to the auditorium where the school choir sang songs they had studied at school and for which they had received an award in a competition.
After that, the Principal made a welcoming speech and the students were taken around the school. In the library, theywere offered bookmarks made by the Italian students, each containing a meaningful quotation.
After the visit, everybody went outsde to listen to a concert and see dance peformances given by the Italian students. It was for them the opportunity to show what they had learnt during the school year.
The students were then taken to the school gym where they had games of volley-ball and basket-ball.
The morning ended at the Town Hall where we were received by the Mayor of Cerignola in the council room. He gave a speech, insisting on the importance of a united Europe in this time of turmoil.
The students discovered the school and were given the opportunity to compare with their own school in France.
They also shared good moments with their Italian and Portuguese friends and also with the rest of the students in the school.
It was an opportunty to make the Eramsus+ project more visible and vivid in the school.
The French boys and girls felt really warmly welcomed and felt they belonged to the community.
The fact that they were received by the Mayor made them realise the importance and impact of the project in the wholecity.
They were in good spirits to start the week.
